Abstract

This paper can extend the view about the rough information available in the controversy about the crop of Jatropha curcas and the oil production possibility for the generation of biofuel. Highlights their many benefits and discusses the lack of basic scientific studies that support the implementation of crops not only to the state of Tamaulipas, but nationally that establishing major constraints in order for this species be successful cropping for production of biofuels. Finally, it presents the perspectives of the study of other species and wild relatives (ie. Jatropha sotoi-nunyezii), discussed in this research which at the time provide information on key aspects such as: genetic, ecological, ecophysiological, agro-ecological and sanitary, among others. With the resulting it would be expected to contribute to the basic knowledge needed before any massively vegetative propagation as much for this, as other species.
