Telerehabilitation (TR) offers an alternative for remote rehabilitation services to stroke survivors and has emerged as a promising intervention for the remote, supervised delivery of physical and other therapies aimed at improving the motor and cognitive deficits of this disease. The objective of the present study was to describe the existing evidence on the effects of TR in physical therapy on motor recovery in post-stroke patients. A search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, and EBSCO from August to November 2022. The search terms used were "telerehabilitation" and "stroke," for articles in English and Spanish within a 5-year time frame and. 4 194 articles were identified, but only 13 articles met all the criteria: 4 provided evidence for TR on motor function recovery, 3 for TR on Activities of Daily Living (ADL) recovery, 1 for TR on limb function, balance, physical activity and participation, 1 for TR on motor function, ADL, independence, satisfaction and quality of life, 1 for TR on balance and functional mobility, and 3 for TR on perception and acceptability. This work provides a rationale that TR interventions have similar effects on motor deficits compared with conventional therapy.
