Abstract

Nowadays the cellular mobile communications systems request a larger capacity on services. This is due to the constant increase of the mobile users. As a possible solution to this problem, the technology open a research line related with the antenna. This kind of technology is called antenna arrays. The elements of a linear antenna array are placed over a line. In this case, the interaction of the antenna elements originates the beam forming. With the characterization of the parameters that define the radiation pattern of a linear array, the design elements for a desired linear array could be selected. Parameters as directivity, gain, diversity, mutual coupling, steering direction, geometry and number of the antenna elements must be considered to design antenna arrays. Most proposed works of antenna arrays for mobile communication systems do not give complete information about all antenna array parameters to be considered on the design and performance of such systems. In this paper we present a complete modeling and simulation of linear, antenna arrays. Particularly, we emphasize those effects that have a strong influence on the performance system. The computer simulation results show the evaluation of high sensitive parameters that influence the performance of such systems.
