Abstract

The purpouse of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of success of the Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) and external control group dealt with formocresol, used like pulp dressing agents in pulpotomy in primary dental organs. Thirtynine maxillary and mandibular teeth were treated in primary molars which was dealed with MTA like dressing agent in pulpotomy. We used a group external control formocresol with 19 primary molars, being evaluated both groups by two odontopediatric taking the clinical parameters: absence from pain, fistulae, abscess, mobility and sensitivity to the radiographic parameters percussion resorption to radicular internal external and radiolucency zones bony widening of the periodontal ligament. The results were compared between both groups with controls to one, three and six month’s posttreatment, collected the data percentages were obtained. We made the Chi-X2 statistical test, the group of the MTA have a clinical success 100% and radiographic success 92.3%; for the external control group formocresol, clinical success 94.8% radiographic success 30% to six months, with a statistically significant difference p=.0001. Conclusion: the MTA seems to be an alternative material like dressing agents in pulpotomy in primary dental organs.
